DUI Checkpoint Announced For Temple Terrace
Temple Terrace Police have announced an upcoming operation meant to take impaired drivers off the streets.

TEMPLE TERRACE, FL — Motorists who use Temple Terrace’s 56th Street to get around will want to think twice before getting behind the wheel impaired Thursday night. The Temple Terrace and University of South Florida police departments have announced plans for a joint roadside safety checkpoint.
According to the Temple Terrace Police Department, the checkpoint will be set up on April 27 starting around 10 p.m. at 11802 N. 56th Street.

“The Temple Terrace Police Department recognizes that driving under the influence is a serious public safety problem and that Hillsborough County has consistently ranked among the top counties in the state for alcohol-related crashes,” the agency wrote in an email announcing the special operation.
The goal of the checkpoint, the police department said, is to reduce the number of alcohol-related crashes, injuries and fatalities.

Motorists in Florida are considered impaired if their blood alcohol content levels are .08 or higher. Drivers under the age of 21 are considered impaired with a BAC of .02 or higher.
The police department hasn’t said how long the two agencies plan to keep the checkpoint open Thursday.
