Learn Why it Pays to Get 'Dirty'
The Temple Terrace Community Garden group plays host to its next workshop April 21.
Ask members of the group how their garden grows, and theyβll tell you that the secret is in the soil.
βOne of the most important things for an organic garden is healthy soil,β said member Carla Perdomo. βComposting can help you achieve this, and it's a great way to cut down on curbside waste.β
Building on the success of their first workshop, , group members will present their next event, , on April 21, noon-1 p.m. at the gazebo. Itβs free and open to the public.

Family-owned will provide information on soil preparation and answer questions.
βA lot of people think that all they need is compost, but you also need a lot of additives,β said Jean Grace, whose husband, Steve, will lead session.

Grace said her family is excited to be part of the workshop and got involved with the effort through several Community Garden members who are also customers of Graceβs, which recently moved from the to 8707 Temple Terrace Highway in the Point Plaza shopping center.
βWeβre definitely looking forward to it,β Grace said of the session.
The workshop will begin with a demonstration on making fresh vegetable juice. Four group members will share their favorite recipes.
βParticipants will get a sample of each recipe,β said Perdomo, who is coordinating the entire event.
Participants should consider bringing chairs, she added, as seating is limited in the gazebo.
βResidents should attend this event to meet neighbors, learn more about the community garden, and walk away with some great ideas,β Perdomo said.
