Lewis Students Show that Math Counts When Shopping

The students held their second annual Math Night at Publix in Temple Terrace, using real-life situations to figure out math problems.

Lewis Elementary School held its second annual Math Night at Publix at 11502 N. 53rd St in Temple Terrace last week to learn how math problems can be used to solve real-life situations.

Students received a clip board with grade-level appropriate math problems and real-life situations. They then walked around the store to find the answers to the problems.

Publix employees set up a rainbow sandwich deli bar for the students and their parents and offered students a chance to spin the prize wheel to earn prizes. Students also were invited to make treats at a cookie-decorating station.
