
Longtime cataloger Patricia Ann Teague died Aug. 10 after a heart attack. She was 71 years old.
“I will miss her terribly,” wrote Mary Satterwhite, director of the library from 2001-2007, on Teague’s online obituary page on the Blount & Curry Funeral Home website. “She was a kind and loving person, full of fun, laughter, and love.”
According to Temple Terrace Library Division Director Armand Ternak, Teague had just received her award for 15 years of service at the library.

Patricia Ann Teague, born July 13, 1941, passed away on Aug. 10, 2012 at the age of 71 due to a sudden heart attack. She was the beloved daughter of Paul and Sadie Teague, who both preceded her in death.

Born and raised in Tampa, Pat attended Hillsborough High School, graduating at the age of 14. She received a scholarship to Florida State University and received her bachelor’s degree at the age of 18. She then began her career as a teacher at Horace Mann Junior High in Brandon. Pat later taught at Chamberlain High School in Tampa before receiving a stipend to study at University of Illinois.
After receiving a master's degree, Pat accepted a position teaching gifted students at West Leyden High School in Northlake, IL. As a member of Leyden's English Department, Pat was known for the rigorous standards she established for her students and herself. She was dedicated to ensuring that her students went on to college and succeeded in their academic careers. She was beloved by both her students and colleagues who remained in close touch with her over the years. After 26 years with West Leyden, Pat retired and returned to her home in Florida. Living in Temple Terrace, and working with the city’s library, she lived an active life surrounded by friends and family.
Pat was also a talented musician and lover of all things musical. She won a Paderewski Medal and Scholarship for her ability on the piano. She also played a variety of stringed instruments and was active in supporting local folk music groups. She also travelled widely around the world with friends and family visiting countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Central America and the Caribbean.
Throughout her life, Pat gave unselfishly of herself to friends and family. She was a dedicated daughter, caring lovingly for her mother until her death a decade ago. She was also a loving sister to her brothers, as well as a caring aunt to her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was a loyal friend to so many and happily gave of herself to those fortunate enough to know her. Later in life, Pat became a lover of animals—especially her Australian Shepherds, Kyle and Kelly.
Pat Teague will be missed by the many people with whom she shared herself. She shared her gifted intellect and remarkable insight with all who were fortunate enough to know her and never hesitated to offer help to those who needed it. She made this world a better place, and will now rest in peace.
Visitation will take place at , 12690 N. 56th St., Aug. 15, 5-6 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m.
Pat has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Friends of Animals, or an animal rescue organization of your choosing.
