This story is told by Braelyn’s owner, Taegan McMahon.
Braelyn is a very lucky girl.
Her two gray kitten brothers were killed on the road in Raintree, but Jody Harwood stopped to assess the situation and heard a high, thin crying, like a bird. She looked around and then realized that it was a kitten she heard. She went toward the source of the mewing and, in the shrubbery next to a house, found Braelyn (whom she called Dusty) crouched, terrified, under a bush.

Braelyn was quite wild, and Jody had to call her daughter to help catch the frantic kitten. After a five minute chase that seemed to last an hour, Jody was able to grab Braelyn by the scruff of the neck and carry her, hissing, to her house.
After two days in a dog crate, with feeding and much petting, Braelyn was as tame as any kitten, and had the loudest purr ever.

Braelyn’s rescuers would have kept her, as they fell in love with her immediately. But a friend of Jody’s daughter, Taegan McMahon, who was new to Tampa, was in need of a little love.
Braelyn is now 3 years old, and is as sweet as can be, though she still has a lot of spunk and loves to be an instigator. Braelyn now prefers to spend most of her time riding on Taegan’s shoulder (which isn’t too hard since she’s a tiny thing) or at least being sitting with one pawn touching. Braelyn has really become a special part of Taegan’s life.
