Police Invite Residents Behind the Scenes
Registration is now open for the Temple Terrace Police Department's annual Citizens' Police Academy on April 14.

Now you can find out for yourself.
On April 14, theΒ Β will offer its annual CitizensβΒ Police Academy, a free program that has provided Temple Terrace residents 18 and older with a peak into the lives of police officers for more than 15 years.

βIt gives citizens an opportunity to learn about the role of law enforcement in the community and interact with Temple Terrace police officers,β said Officer Karen Walter, who organizes the program.
Participants will learn about traffic enforcement, 9-1-1 dispatch, narcotics identification, marine law and crime-scene processing. Theyβll see K-9, Taser and firearms simulation demonstrations, and learn about the departmentβs emergency tactical operations. Theyβll also discover how residents play a vital role in keeping Temple Terrace safe.

Walter said the most popular aspect of the program is the simulated firearms training. Her favorite part is the interaction with community residents.
Those who complete the program will receive a diploma, class photo and T-shirt. A catered lunch will be served.
The Citizensβ Police Academy will run from 8:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at theΒ .
