Police Tip: Keep Burglars at Bay While You’re Away

Do you know what the Crime Prevention Triangle is or how to keep your home secure while you’re on vacation?

The Temple Terrace Police Department wants to make sure you do.

“Keep Burglars at Bay While You’re Away” is the second tip in the department’s Fun-N-Sun Safety Tip Run, a series of weekly safety tips designed to help you and your family enjoy the summer.

“For a crime to occur all three elements of the Crime Triangle (desire, ability, and opportunity) must be present,” police say in the tip. “When the three elements are made unattainable or less present, potential crime is reduced.”

A new summer safety tip will be provided each week on the Temple Terrace Police Department Facebook page, and that’s where you can check out all of the Crime Prevention Triangle and Vacation Watch information.
