Howard Johnston took this picture of an alligator in his neighbor's backyard along the Hillsborough River.

Johnston said gators can't get into his yard because he and his wife, Lucinda, have a dock and seawall. However, they see gators cruising by or waiting under their dock for a snack.

"It's a spectacular setting, and one that I wish the City of Temple Terrace would showcase more often," Johnston said. "That river is such a treasure in an urban environment."
