Teen Nearly Drowns at Recreation Complex
A 15-year-old boy is at Florida Hospital Tampa after being pulled from a Temple Terrace swimming pool Friday night.

A 15-year-old boy is hospitalized after a near-drowning at the Temple Terrace Family Recreation Complex swimming pool Friday night.
According to a press release from the City of Temple Terrace, the teenager is at Florida Hospital Tampa. His identification and condition are not being released at this time, as the Temple Terrace Police Department is performing an investigation.
“Shortly before 9 p.m. Friday, the Temple Terrace Police Department received a call about a possible drowning at the Temple Terrace Family Recreation Complex, 6610 Whiteway Drive,” the release states. “When police arrived, they found the youngster had been pulled from the facility’s swimming pool, and lifeguards were performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. It is unknown how long the youngster was under water.”

The facility was being rented by the Pepin Academy of Tampa for a private party, according to the release. An estimated 150 teachers, parents and kids were in attendance. Several lifeguards were on duty.
