Teen Wins President’s Volunteer Service Award

Nicolas Mabilleau received the national award for his volunteerism.

In one year, Nicolas β€œNico” Mabilleau performed nearly 200 hours of community service as a junior counselor for Temple Terrace’s Summer Youth Program, mentoring children 5-13.

Now, the 16-year-old has received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for inspiring others to have a positive impact on the world.

According to a City of Temple Terrace press release, Nico earned the national award for his volunteer work from city staff in January at the Family Recreation Complex.

He’s a student in King High School’s Advanced Placed Scholar Program, a certified lifeguard and a junior member of the Aquatic Club of Temple Terrace, the release states. He’s also a member of the King High varsity swimming and wrestling teams, a member of the 2012 National Society of High School Scholars and many other organizations.

β€œTemple Terrace is proud to call Nicolas A. Mabilleau a member of our community and to recognize his achievement as a recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award,” the release states.
