Temple Terrace Marine Corps Vet Uses His Voice to Welcome The World To Tampa International
Sean Baker dedicated 22 years to the Marine Corps. In 2023, he had the opportunity to use his voice to give back in a whole new way.

Whether itβs serving as a military officer or stepping up as a first responder, it takes a rare combination of dedication, resilience and heart to take on these roles. And for many of these individuals, that same drive carries over into life beyond the badge.
Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to spotlight active-duty military members, veterans and first responders who continue to lead, inspire and give back in meaningful ways across their communities.
Temple Terrace resident and retired Marine Corps helicopter pilot Sean Baker has spent much of his life in the skies, flying heavy-lift cargo missions around the world in places like Iraq, Pakistan, and Indonesia. After retiring in 2014, he earned his MBA from the University of South Florida and settled in the Tampa area, where heβs found meaningful ways to stay connected to his community.

One of those ways? Becoming the welcoming voice for thousands of passengers at Tampa International Airport.
As reported by Tampa Beacon, Baker was selected as the July 2023 winner of the airportβs Voice of TPA contest, a raffle benefiting United Way Suncoast. After purchasing 12 entries to support the cause, Baker was invited to record a greeting that played on the airportβs shuttle system all month long, welcoming travelers home and thanking visitors for choosing Tampa.
