Temple Terrace Voters Head to Primary Polls

Registered voters can participate in Tuesday's Primary until 7 p.m.

The last time Joseph Jacobik voted in a primary, he realized he was limited to nonpartisan races because he wasn’t affiliated with any particular party.

By Primary Election Day on Tuesday, Jacobik had rectified that situation. He’s now a registered Republican.

“I pretty much vote at every primary I can,” he said.

Jacobik was one of the Temple Terrace voters who went to the polls Tuesday morning. His polling place is the .

“It’s been steady since we opened at 7 (a.m.),” said Cecil Brackett, a clerk with the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office, assigned to Woodmont.

By 9:30 a.m. there was a lull in voter turnout, Brackett said, but he expected it to pick back up around lunchtime and after 5 p.m. when folks leave work.

Voter turnout wasn’t so steady at . By 9:45 a.m., the church had seen only nine voters.

“It’s always very low at this precinct,” said clerk Su Todden, explaining that most of the voters who live in that particular area have to work and take advantage of .

“But the presidential election will be busy,” she predicted.

When Election Day rolls around Nov. 6, Jacobik said his new Republican Party affiliation wouldn’t sway him to the political right.

“I vote for the person who I think is going to do the best job,” he said.
