What's Open, What's Closed This New Year's Weekend

Here's a rundown of holiday hours for some of the most popular local stores, plus info on trash pickup, parks and other Temple Terrace and Hillsborough County services.

Walgreens 24-hour stores will remain open 24 hours throughout the entire weekend. Hours at other non-24-hour Walgreens stores vary; call your local store for information.

CVS 24-hour stores will remain open 24 hours, even on Sunday. Hours at other CVS stores vary; call your local store for information.

Publix will be open until 9 p.m. Saturday. Most stores will close at 7 p.m. Sunday, though stores in select areas may close later. Call your local store for information.

Sweetbay will be open regular hours. All Sweetbay pharmacies will be closed Sunday.

Winn-Dixie will be open regular hours.

GOVERNMENT OFFICES

 and other government offices, as well as Hillsborough County offices and many facilities, will be closed on Monday, Jan. 2.

TRASH PICKUP

There will be no residential garbage collection or green-bin recycling on Jan. 2 in Temple Terrace. However, homeowners on the Monday pickup route may put out their recycling bins the following Thursdays (Jan. 5), along with their trash. Normal trash collection and recycling for the Monday route will resume Jan. 9.

The city also is recycling Christmas trees. Residents should place Christmas trees curbside by 7 a.m. any Wednesday for collection with the department’s regular Wednesday yard-waste recycling routes.

In the unincorporated areas of Hillsborough County and for the City of Tampa, commercial garbage collection will not be affected by the holidays. The holidays will not affect the schedule for solid waste collection (including garbage, recyclables and yard waste).

MAIL

There will be no U.S. Postal Service delivery on Monday, Jan. 2.

ANIMAL SERVICES

The county shelter will be closed to the public Jan. 1-2.

On days the shelter is closed, there are a limited number of officers who will be on call for animal emergencies only through the main number at 813-744-5660.

FIRE RESCUE

All emergency services will continue without interruption. However, the Fire Rescue Administration, Fire Marshal and Emergency Operations Center offices will be closed Jan. 2. 

INFOLINE

Hillsborough County’s InfoLine, 813-272-5900, also will be closed on the observed holidays.

LIBRARIES

The Temple Terrace Public Library and all other libraries in the Tampa-Hillsborough County Library System will be closed Jan. 1-2.

PARKS AND RECREATION

The and the will be closed Jan. 1-2. (The Lightfoot facility is closed to the public on weekends.)

All county recreation centers will be closed Jan. 2.

All regional parks are open on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

SUNSHINE LINE

The Sunshine Line transportation service will not be in operation Jan. 2.

WATER/WASTEWATER

The Public Utilities Department’s customer call center and water/wastewater customer service centers in Northdale and Brandon will be closed Jan. 2. Emergency calls regarding county water and wastewater service may be made to 813-744-5600 or 813-264-3835.

CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICERS

Offices of the Property Appraiser, Tax Collector, Supervisor of Elections and Clerk of the Circuit Court will be closed Jan. 2.
