Alex Lemonade Stand Foundation Introduces Holiday Giving Program

The well known Alex Lemonade Stand Foundation is introducing a new way to lend a hand in finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Instead of serving up cups of lemonade, people are being encouraged to fill cups with spare change. The Seasons of Change program is a first for the Pennsylvania based foundation.

“With the winter months not providing the ideal weather for lemonade stands, we thought what better time than the holidays to give back in a small way that could make a big difference,” said Liz Scott, Alex’s mom. “We felt that the simple act of collecting change fit well with Alex’s inspiring message and allowed our dedicated supporters to continue their support throughout the year."

The steps to participating in Seasons of Change are easy: register the fundraiser online at the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Participants will be sent cups and lids, a guide with instructions and helpful tips, brochures to share with those who donate and a collection envelope to send in a check or money order at the end of the fundraising drive. From there, participants simply collect as many coins as needed to fill up their cup and then send in the proceeds.

Participants are encouraged to collect loose change on their desk at work, with their family at home, or even through competitions with friends. The Seasons for Change fundraiser closest to Westchase is taking place in Lutz at 1637 Totem Pole Way according to the foundation's website.

The program follows in the footsteps of Foundation creator Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1994-2004), who believed that everyone was capable of making a change, no matter the amount they were able to give.
