Westchase Resident Elected To National FBI Citizens Academy Board

Westchase resident Tammy Denbo was recently elected to the board of directors for the FBI National Citizens Academy Alumni Association. Denbo is currently the president of the FBI Tampa Bay Citizens Academy Alumni Association. In addition to her current association duties, Denbo assumed executive representative responsibilities for the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association at the national level. 

Special Agent in Charge Steven E. Ibison, FBI Tampa Field Office, announced Denbo's appointment today.

“As president of our local Citizens Academy Alumni Association chapter, Ms. Denbo has enhanced this vital community outreach program," Ibison said. "She is one of the most highly motivated and energetic professionals I have had the pleasure to work with."

The FBI Citizens Academy is an 8-week program that reaches out to business and community leaders. Academy participants receive an overview of the priorities of the FBI and view various presentations that highlight them, including counterterrorism, counter-intelligence, cybercrime, white collar and violent crimes.

Under Denbo's leadership, Tampa alumni chapter members have continued to strengthen relationships locally with minority groups, religious and civic organizations, schools, non-profits, and other groups, Ibison said.

"I have no doubt her (Denbo's) ongoing efforts will bolster the Association’s success at the national level," he said.

Denbo, who has been involved with the FBI Citizens Academy since 2008, was also appointed as senior regional vice president, to oversee the FBI Citizens Academy Association programs in a five-state area.

A Tampa Bay resident for 34 years, Denbo has also developed significant and diverse ties to local community programs including Hope Children’s Home in Tampa, Junior League Tampa and the Make a Wish Foundation.

Denbo was recently featured on Westchase Patch for her work as vice president of People for Haiti, a nonprofit that makes frequent aide-missions to Haiti.

Professionally, Denbo is a partner with Masten, Lyerly, Peterson & Denbo, LLC, a firm that handles insurance defense litigation with an emphasis on fraud and abuse.
