Christmas Decor: Who Should Decide?

At least one Westchase neighborhood wants to add some "umph" to the decorations at the entrance of their subdivision.

Earlier this month, Westchase's Community Development District board members were faced with a request: A resident of Harbor Links wanted to decorate the entrance of that subdivision with lights in addition to the customary garlands that all Westchase subdivision entrances are adorned with.

The CDD designates holiday decor for the entrances of Westchase neighborhoods, and is responsible for installing the decor each year.

Adding lights to the Harbor Links entrance would've costed about $2,000. Harbor Links neighborhood officials were willing to pick up the tab. However, in the end CDD board didn't approve the request. Some were concerned that by doing so, other Westchase communities would request the right to decorate their entrances uniquely as well.
