Hillsborough Community College Model United Nations Team Celebrates State, Regional Level Awards
The Hillsborough Community College Model United Nations team was awarded both individual and team distinctions at two conferences.

TAMPA, FL — The Hillsborough Community College Model United Nations team was awarded both individual and team distinctions at two conferences during the fall semester.
The Florida Model UN Conference was held on Oct. 15-16 in Gainesville. Nine HCC students represented three different UN member states, working with peers from other Florida colleges to address global issues such as access to clean water, combating terrorism and protecting civilians in armed conflicts.
Yesenia De Rosas Tenchipe and Sade Mitchell, representing Germany, won the Distinguished Delegation Award at the conference. Mitchell also won an individual award for Outstanding Delegate from her committee.

The Southern Regional Model United Nations were held on Nov. 18-20 in Atlanta. Eight students presented the United States of Mexico, a UN member state. Working with peers from colleges and universities in the southern region, students addressed issues such as access to clean water, global health and the protection of children.
Mitchell and Cory Andrews, representing Mexico on the UN Children's Fund, won the Best Delegate Award. As a team, the entire delegation of Mexico won the Honorable Delegation Award.
