TAMPA, FL — Beginning Monday night, Oct. 28, the Florida Department of Transportation will close all southbound lanes on the Veterans Expressway (State Road 589) at State Road 60 (Courtney Campbell Causeway).

These nightly lane closures will be in place between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. to install overhead signage on the Veterans Expressway.

This section of roadway is expected to close for approximately four nights, weather permitting. During this closure, drivers will be detoured around the work zone using exit ramp 2A to westbound SR 60 (Courtney Campbell Causeway), Bayport Drive, South Access Road and eastbound SR 60 (Courtney Campbell Causeway).

Advanced warning signs and electronic message boards will be used to assist drivers traveling through the detour route. Drivers can expect heavier traffic on nearby roads during this closure

Once complete, this project will improve operations and reduce morning peak hour congestion where the southbound Veterans Expressway merges with eastbound SR 60 by adding new lanes and striping.
