Update 4:57 p.m. Sept. 18: The teen struck on Gunn Highway earlier this afternoon has been identified as Sickles High student Andrew Dennis, 14. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Dennis was conscious when he was taken from the scene to the hospital. The driver of the 1999 Honda Civic that struck Dennis as he was crossing four lanes of traffic has also been identified. He is Sebastian Rueda, 18, of Tampa. No other information is available at this time. Earlier: Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies are on the scene of a traffic crash at 7700 Gunn Highway involving a 14-year-old boy. The crash occurred at about 3:15 p.m. today, Sept. 18, according to sheriff's office spokeswoman Debbie Carter. The teen darted across four lanes of highway and was struck by a vehicle, she said. The boy was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital. No further information is available at this time. Stay with Patch for updates as they become available.
