Too Cute! Baby Raccoon Rescued After Fall From Tree

An injured baby raccoon is on the mend thanks to concerned residents in Odessa and a Hillsborough County deputy.

ODESSA, FL — While most folks were enjoying a Thanksgiving dinner, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Seaton was on the beat protecting and serving. Chances are he didn’t quite count on rescuing an injured raccoon before the day was out though.

That, however, is exactly what the sheriff’s office said the deputy did. It seems a baby raccoon fell out of a tree in the Odessa area and injured its back right leg. Residents in the area spotted the critter and flagged Seaton down for an assist.

Seaton knew just who to call. He let the folks at the Odessa Wildlife Rescue and Sanctuary know about the animal’s plight. The organization came and picked up the little rascal and plans to keep it during its recovery, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Odessa wildlife rescue has been helping out dogs, cats and other wildlife since 1992. The nonprofit organization began in a home and has since been moved out to “5 acres dedicated to the well-being, security, love and daily hands-on care” of its animals. In January 2016, the organization had 60 creatures in its care.

The organization depends heavily on donations to help pay for feed, hay, treats, vet bills, labor, electric and more. Donations can be made via its website or to an ongoing GivingGrid campaign that has a $5,000 goal.
