Westchase Patch Welcomes Guest Editor

Second month anniversary for Westchase Patch approaches on a high note personally and professionally

In about a week Westchase Patch will be celebrating its two-month birthday. My son will be turning two around the same time. Both are major milestones in my life.

As a professional journalist, I made the choice to join Patch because I firmly believed this was something that could help the community and potentially change how this whole world of "media" works. Everyday I'm faced with doing my part to make sure both of those things come to fruition.

This past week I got some affirmation that we're at least doing the former. A parent from a local school told me he looks forward to our post and often goes back to it to check up on an event or special we've featured. That brightened my day.

As for the changing how the world of media works thing...well, this past week's news that AOL, Patch's parent company, had acquired the speaks directly to that point.

So it's on a high note that I take some time to enjoy the other "2" milestone happening. I'll be taking some time away from Patch this week to celebrate my son's second birthday.
