Milton Police Completing National Recertification
A team of law enforcement assessors will be available Apr. 9 through Apr. 11 to hear the public's input.

From The City of Milton PD: As part of its effort to receive national recertification, the City of Milton Police Department will host a team of professional law enforcement assessors from April 9 to April 11 and the public is invited to provide input.
The assessors, who come from across the country as part of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), will determine if the Milton Police Department meets the Commission's state-of-the-art standards in order to receive its recertification for national accreditation.
A public information and comment session will be held Monday, April 10 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Municipal Court, located at 13000 Deerfield Parkway, Suite 107E (directions to Milton Municipal Court).

"Accreditation through the Commission is the hallmark of professional excellence among municipal law enforcement agencies throughout the nation. It is not a requirement, but an arduous, thorough process we invite to ensure we are utilizing best practices. It is a tool to help us remain one of the top agencies of our size anywhere in the nation," said Milton's Police Chief Rich Austin. "The City of Milton's dedicated police professionals continually provide exceptional police services, and I am confident the assessment team, after thorough evaluation of our operations, will come to the same conclusion."
They will review the agency's policies and practices, interview individuals and visit offices and other areas where compliance can be witnessed. Once the Commission's assessors complete their review of the agency, they report back to the full Commission, who will then decide if the agency is to be granted recertification.
