These Best Real Estate Markets Find Homes In GA, WalletHub Says

Multiple GA cities rank in the top 150 for best real estate markets in the U.S., including one town known for its entertaining ambience.

GEORGIA — The Peach State has one of the top 10 real estate markets in the U.S., according to a recent ranking.

When it comes to being among the best of the best in real estate, personal-finance agency WalletHub says Atlanta ranks 37th. However, Atlanta ranked 10th among the nation's large cities.

Experts examined 17 factors, including housing-market attractiveness and economic strength, when determining placement among 300 cities. Data analyzed median home-price appreciation, housing affordability and job growth.

“Current home prices are extremely important, but there’s much more that you need to look at when determining the health of a city’s real estate market," WalletHub analyst Cassandra Happe said in a news release.

"Factors like the cost of living, the potential for the value of homes to increase, the availability of recently-built homes and the quality of the city’s job market are all important to consider in conjunction with asking prices and interest rates. The best cities may not always be the cheapest, but they offer excellent housing options and long-term stability.”

Atlanta scored 62.5 overall, ranking 35th for real estate market and 102th for affordability and economic environment.

Georgia's capital was accompanied by other Georgia cities on the list, with three ranking in the top 150. See how they fared below:

According to Zillow, the average home in Georgia cost $333,862 as of July 31, a 3.8 percent uptick since 2023.

In Atlanta, homes cost $399,187, seeing a 1.1 percent rise in price. The market saw 1,024 new listings and a median sales price of $392,250, Zillow reported.

WalletHub ranked Roswell 18th, while Athens-Clarke was 22nd, among the best small cities in the U.S.

McKinney, Texas topped all other midsize cities on WalletHub's best real estate market list, ranking first overall with a total score of 74.09. McKinney is first for the real estate market and third for affordability and economic environment.
