Volunteers Needed to Mentor Students at Barrow County Schools
Adult mentors provide support and guidance for students.

Help transform a child into a responsible, productive adult by serving as a mentor for a student in Barrow County Schools.
The school system will host a new mentor orientation session at the Professional Development Center, located at 179 W. Athens Street in Winder, on Friday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. Individuals interested in mentoring may complete an application packet during the orientation session.
Adult mentors, according to a press release from Barrow County Schools, are "volunteers from the community who provide support and guidance to encourage students in achieving academic, personal and occupational success."
Each mentor is expected to commit to visit with a student for 30 minutes to one hour each week that school is in session. In order to serve as a mentor, interested adults must complete an application packet, pass an annual criminal history background check and attend the hour-long orientation session.
