County Commissioner Subject of Federal Investigation
The investigation follows Steve Worley's termination from a job with the city of Monroe.
The Barrow County News reports Barrow County Board of Commissioners member Steve Worley is under investigation.
Worley was terminated as public works director for the city of Monroe in January, and the newspaper reports the federal investigation stems from information uncovered during an internal review of that termination.
The Barrow Journal reports Monroe officials were concluding the internal investigation last week when they received an unexpected inquiry from the FBI’s Atlanta office. The Barrow County News earlier reported Worley's separation papers cited "violation of personnel policies and procedures."
