Job description: Performs a variety of standardized clerical and public contact work associated with the collection of county taxes in the tax commissioner’s office. Work involves processing title applications; verifying the information; calculating any ad valorem taxes due; entering all data into the computer; issuing tags and decals; collecting payments and entering into the computer; obtaining and verifying any information needed to complete registrations; researches data to give information to the general public and officials; communicating with State officials to resolve problems as needed; assisting dealerships with procedures; assisting and training other clerks; handling the responsibility for processing all mailed renewals and any correspondence related. Employee is responsible for considerable data entry work in recording tax payments and other data in computerized files. Employee must exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with taxpayers and the general public.
Qualifications: Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and six to nine months of experience in collections, preferably in a tax-related field
