Fire Prevention Grant Awarded to Barrow County Emergency Services

The grant money is to be used for fire prevention education and public information efforts.

Barrow County Emergency Services recently received a $1,700 grant from FM Global to be used in its fire prevention education and public information efforts.

Specifically, the grant will be used to purchase a laptop, camera and accessories that will allow the department to develop fire and life safety presentations tailored to Barrow County and its residents.

“We want to thank Battalion Chief Rob Nowakowski who wrote the application for the grant,” Lt. Scott Dakin, public information officer for BCES, said in a news release announcing the grant. “We also want to truly thank FM Global for this grant award. It is truly appreciated and will assist us in our fire and life safety efforts.”

According to the release, FM Global provides comprehensive, global commercial and industrial property insurance, underwriting and risk management solutions, and property loss prevention research. The company has been in business since 1835. The company's Fire Prevention Grant Program is designed to help fund fire prevention, preparedness and control efforts of agencies.
