Fort Yargo to Close to Public during Quota Deer Hunt on Dec. 4-5
According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the hunt is needed to help control deer populations in and around Fort Yargo.

Fort Yargo State Park in Winder will be closed to the public Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 4 and 5.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources will hold a quota deer hunt at the park, during which the area will be closed to visitors. The hunt is needed to help control deer populations in and around Fort Yargo. Participating hunters are drawn by a lottery system, and officials emphasize the annual hunts are not recreational, but a "valuable and effective resource management tool."
