Panel Installation Work to Be Completed This Week

As of Monday, Oct. 7, 318 of 350 concrete panels had been installed.

By the end of this week, a major portion of the downtown Winder streetscaping project will be complete.

As of Monday, Oct. 7, 318 out of 350 concrete panels had been installed. The Georgia Department of Transportation expects to complete installation of the third and final row of concrete panels this week, weather permitting.

The southbound lane of Broad Street will be closed nightly through Friday, Oct. 11 from Midland Avenue to Stephens Street for panel installation. On Wednesday morning, Oct. 9, the intersection of Stephens Street and Broad Street will be closed to through traffic on the courthouse side as concrete slabs are installed across the intersection. The intersection will reopen Thursday morning.

According to a GDOT press release, sidewalk, curbing and gutter construction will continue during the day between Midland Avenue and Stephens Street. The installation of bases for new decorative lighting will begin this week.

The 0.72-mile long, $4.9-million project has an expected completion date of July 31, 2014.
