Recovered License Plate Assigned to Bond ... James Bond

The plate had not been reported stolen, but was left behind when another plate was stolen.

A thief or thieves took the license plate off a Statham's man car, but did leave something in return.

The Statham man contacted authorities on Nov. 12 after noticing the license plate on his Ford Mustang was not the one assigned to the vehicle. The man said someone had apparently taken his plate and left another tag in its place.

The investigating deputy ran the swapped plate and determined it had initially been assigned to a 1986 red Chevrolet Camaro belonging to a man by the name of James Bond. The plate, however, was no longer assigned to that vehicle. There was no report of the plate having been stolen.

The deputy placed the swapped plate into evidence and listed the other plate as stolen.

The case is listed as active.
