The Problem With Leadership PACs

Funds contributed to these PACs are not subject to the ethics laws that campaign contributions are.

By Jimmy Wilbanks

Are you aware that almost every Congressman and Senator in the U. S. Congress has what is called a leadership PAC?

Funds contributed to these PACs are not subject to the ethics laws that campaign contributions are. That means that these funds can be spent on anything and in any amounts. You can put your nephew on the payroll, or you can loan your campaign money from these PACs or spend a gazillion dollars on sports events. One Congresswoman lent her campaign $100,000 and charged over $200,000 in interest to pay back the loan. Wow, wish I could get 18% interest on money I deposit in the bank.

Just another case of bi-partisianship in Congress that hurts the American public and solidifies the need to keep a sharp eye on these folks.

I guess Congress thinks it shouldn't obey the laws they pass. Those laws are only for the masses and not the political class in Washington.
