Candidates to Replace Chambliss Appearing at Forum

Georgia citizens including Buford residents will have their first chance to meet the announced candidates, as well as one potential candidate still considering a run to replace U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss in the U.S. Senate in 2014 during an informal forum Saturday, June 29.

U.S. Congressmen Paul Broun, Phil Gingrey, and Jack Kingston, and former Secretary of State Karen Handel along with Georgia businessman David Perdue have agreed to participate in the forum.

The forum is being hosted by citizen watchdog group C.H.A.R.G.E. from 4 to 6 p.m. in the covered pavilion at LaPrades Marina on Lake Burton, according to an announcement by Jef Fincher of Duluth, a member of C.H.A.R.G.E. (Citizens Helping America Restore Government Ethics).

The forum will be open to the public in addition to residents of Lake Burton, Lake Seed and Lake Rabun.

This will be the first public forum of the Senate race and will be structured to allow the candidates to introduce their families, lay out their platforms, and meet Georgia voters., Fincher said. The lake setting will provide a casual and informal occasion to meet and talk with the next senator to represent the people of Georgia, he said.
