Convicted Child Rapist Sentenced in Gwinnett

Juan Antonio Enriques-Marroquin claimed the 11-year-old made sexual advances on him.

A convicted rapist has been sentenced by a Gwinnett County judge to life in prison for raping and sodomizing an 11-year-old girl multiple times nearly 3 years ago, according to the district attorney’s office.

Juan Antonio Enriques-Marroquin, who argued the girl made sexual advances toward him, was found guilty Friday of rape, aggravated child molestation and child molestation, Chief Assistant District Attorney Dan Mayfield said in a news release.

Judge Timothy Hamil sentenced him to life for each of the first two charges, and 20 years for the third.

Prosecutors said beginning in December 2012, and continuing for several months, Enriques-Marroquin raped and anally sodomized the girl approximately 20 times, telling her he would hurt her if she told anyone.

“On June 27, the victim made an outcry to her mother that she was being sexually abused by the defendant and Gwinnett County Police were called,” Mayfield said in the news release.

Enriques-Marroquin, who had known the girl since she was 6, first denied the charges then told police he resisted before giving into the girl’s alleged repeated sexual advances.
