The woman was reaching into the water when she fell off the dock, according to DNR officials.

The woman who drowned Sunday (July 7) at Lake Lanier has been identified as Marines Rosa Dillon, 59, of Cumming.
In a state Department of Natural Resources release Monday, the the victim's husband said that she fell off a dock while trying to grab a turtle in the water.
Her husband said he could not swim and jumped in to help her. A neighbor heard them screaming and ran to the dock for help and then called 911 (at 6:09 p.m.)
When EMTs arrived, they said the couple were a few feet from shore. The victim was unresponsive, and personnel started CPR. The husband was responsive, but appeared to be exhausted.
Both people were transported to Northside Forsyth.
This is the third drowning at Lake Lanier in 2013; the others were a Suwanee woman and an Atlanta man.
