Gwinnett OKs Traffic Relief Project for Buford

Commissioners will apply for about $600,000 in state funding for various projects.

The Buford area will get some traffic relief at a key intersection, after recent action by the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners.

On Tuesday, commissioners approved the application for about $600,000 in Georgia Department of Transportation funds that will provide "congestion relief" around the county, according to a county news release.

In the Buford area, the intersection of Buford Highway/State Route 13 southbound at South Lee Street will get an extended left turn lane.

“This is another good example of the state and county working together to get things done,” Chairman Charlotte Nash said in a news release. “We expect to have all these projects completed by the end of the year.”
