BUFORD, GA - A Buford SWAT standoff ended early Thursday morning when the man surrendered to Gwinnett County Police. The man's mother was in the home for much of the standoff, police said.

At around midnight, Peter Scrocca, 30, surrendered to members of the SWAT team without incident and was taken into custody. Earlier in the night, at approximately 10:45 p.m., his mother, Arlene Scrocca, 60, was successfully removed from the situation after walking outside of the residence. P. Scrocca was arrested at that time and charged with one count of obstruction.

At approximately 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Gwinnett County Police officers were dispatched to 3920 Maple Wood Trail because of reports of a man shooting a handgun into the air outside of the home. Responding officers met with family members that had fled the residence after the incident. Officers learned that only the suspect, identified as P. Scrocca and his mother, A. Scrocca, remained inside of the residence, according to police.
