Tips to Prevent West Nile Virus
Here's help on preventing the mosquito-born illness, from the CDC.

The rainy weather and rising temperatures of late summer are a perfect mix for swarming mosquitoes in Georgia. It also may mean an increased chance for contracting the West Nile virus.
The Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta says June through September is the peak time for West Nile.
So, with back to school right around the corner, it’s a good idea to stay safe. According to Karen Shields, spokesperson for the East Metro Health District, here are the five D’s of protection from mosquito bites.

1. Dusk/Dawn: Mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus usually bite at dusk and dawn. Limit outdoor activity during those hours.
2. Dress: Wear loose-fitting, long-sleeved shirts and pants to reduce the amount of exposed skin.

3. DEET: Cover exposed skin and clothes with an insect repellent containing the chemical DEET. It is the most effective repellant against mosquito bites.
4. Drain: Empty any containers (buckets, barrels, kiddie pools) holding standing water to prevent breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
5. Doors: Make sure doors, windows and screens are in good condition and fit tightly to keep out mosquitoes.
