2 Public Meetings To Be Held To Discuss Tree, Grading Ordinances

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA – Two public input meetings will be held in August to continue the public engagement process for the review of the county’s tree ordinance and regulations pertaining to mass grading. These items, along with an incentive program for low impact storm water design, were identified as implementation measures in the latest update of the Forsyth County Comprehensive Plan.

In order to protect and provide access to the county’s natural and cultural assets as noted in the plan, the county seeks further community input in order to recommend modifications and enhancements to current standards.

An Aug. 15 meeting will provide an opportunity and platform for Forsyth County residents and other interested parties to discuss tree preservation requirements and options related to tree save areas and legacy trees.
An Aug. 22 meeting will provide an opportunity and platform for Forsyth County residents and other
interested parties to discuss the current requirements and best practices of clearing vegetation and
moving earth during the development process.

“We had a good turnout at the June 20 kick-off meeting, and appreciated the input we received,” said
Deputy Director of Planning and Community Development Vanessa Bernstein-Goldman. “We look
forward to continuing the conversation with Forsyth County stakeholders during our August meetings.”
The public input meetings for stakeholder feedback will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15,
and Wednesday, Aug. 22 at the Forsyth County Administration Building located at 110 E. Main Street
in Cumming, Suite 220. The meetings are open house format, with an overview presented at 6:30 p.m.
during both meetings.
