5th Mental Health Summit Set For Thursday In Cumming

The 5th Suicide Awareness and Mental Health Summit will happen at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at My Local Church in Cumming.

CUMMING, GA β€” The 5th Suicide Awareness and Mental Health Summit will honor the upcoming World Suicide Awareness Day.

The summit will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9 at My Local Church, 3105 Dahlonega Highway, Cumming. The event will be held in-person with a virtual option.

The summit will include a panel discussion with young adults from FullCircle with their counselors, members of the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners Youth Council, Lisa Schneider, Cindy Levi, Avita Community Partners Chief Executive Officer and Karin White, lead school social worker and mental health coordinator for Forsyth County Schools.

The summit will be an opportunity to explore why the kids in school, as well as professionals, think the community is seeing a spike in suicides and attempts with young people, and what can be done to help.
