Armed Robber Forces McDonalds Employees Into Freezer: Police

A man has been arrested after, police say, he used a gun and forced McDonalds employees into a walk-in freezer before robbing the place.

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA – A Lawrenceville man has been arrested after, police say, he walked into a Forsyth County McDonalds with a gun and forced employees into a walk-in freezer before robbing the restaurant.

Kaleem Tariq-Madyun, 35, was arrested and charged with armed robbery and seven counts of aggravated assault after he robbed the McDonald’s restaurant on Keith Bridge Road Saturday, police say.

An armed robbery was reported just after 5 a.m. by employees of the restaurant after they told police they were forced into a refrigerated area by an armed Tariq-Madyum, who took an undisclosed amount of money. The employees fled out of the back of the building and contacted deputies. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office responded and secured the scene. Detectives with the FCSO Major Crimes Unit, acting on observations by patrol deputies were able to develop a potential lead in the robbery. Detectives identified Tariq-Madyumand located him in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County.

After securing arrest and search warrants with assistance from the Gwinnett County Police Department and their S.W.A.T. Team, FCSO Detectives took Tariq-Madyum into custody late Saturday evening.
Detectives are continuing the investigation into this case as well as his past. He is being housed at the Forsyth County Jail pending a court hearing.

"Career criminals need to take notice that Forsyth is not open for their kind of business. Violent crimes are rare in Forsyth and we will work tirelessly to keep it that way."
