During their Nov. 3 meeting, the Board of Commissioners proclaimed Nov. 14 as Skills USA Advocacy Day to acknowledge the work of career technical student organizations in the community.

Skills USA is a career and technical student organization serving more than 395,000 high school, college and middle school students and professional members enrolled in training programs in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations.

Forsyth County’s Alliance Academy for Innovation’s Skills USA chapter is a three-time gold chapter of distinction award winner. The students volunteer in the community through Meals by Grace and community park clean-ups as well as prepare to be leaders in the world of work by teaching the Skills USA framework, which includes personal skills, technical skills grounded in academics and workplace skills.
