- Lanes on Ga. 400 were blocked yesterday after a car fire erupted. Forsyth County Sheriff's Office reported all northbound lanes at Browns Bridge Road were blocked from the car fire. All lanes reopened by 2:00 p.m. (Forsyth County News)
- A 33-year-old Cumming woman was arrested this month in connection with multiple crimes which occurred last year. The woman was arrested selling methamphetamine, receiving stolen property from a home that was burglarized, and shoplifting from a Home Depot. A warrant was issued for the woman's arrest which was served at a home on Mountain View Trail on Jan. 13. (Appen Media)
- Forsyth County couples who are looking to get married for free without the planning hassle can do so on Feb. 14. The Forsyth County Probate Court announced they will offer free wedding ceremonies on Valentine's Day between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Couples looking to get married will need a valid photo ID and a completed marriage license. - Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) officials called for the Senate's help with "hoteling" in the state at Wednesday's Senate Health, Human Services, Children, & Families Committee meeting in Atlanta. Over 400 Georgia children have spent the night in hotels or state offices this fiscal year because appropriate placement could not be found for them. Officials say a reason behind hoteling is the lack of access to proper health care. (GPB News)
- Northside Hospital will offer free prostate cancer screenings on Feb. 16 at their Cancer Institute Radiation Oncology - Forsyth building in Cumming. The prostate-specific antigen blood tests will be available from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. for men ages 45 to 75 with no history of prostate cancer or a test in the past year.
