Dana Sexton is the wife of Rupert Sexton, who resigned from the city council in April following impeachment proceedings revolving around information he allegedly leaked to the press concerning Mayor H. Ford Gravitt’s long-time girlfriend receiving inappropriate city benefits.

Stone is a small business owner, while Shoemake once served a term on the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners and now works at AT&T. McBrayer made a career in the auto sales industry.

In Post 5, John D. Pugh will be succeeded by either Linda Ledbetter or Julie Tressler, who ran against each other in June to succeed Sexton following his resignation. Charles F. Welch, Jr. won the election and replaced Sexton on the council.

Lewis Ledbetter is facing no opposition in Post 3 and will return to an office he has held since 1971.
