Cumming Greek Festival Returns for 9th Year

The Cumming Greek Festival is celebrating its ninth year of bringing a taste of the beautiful Mediterranean paradise to Cumming and north Georgia.

The ninth-annual Cumming Greek Festival starts Friday, Oct. 18, at 3 p.m., and continues through Sunday, Oct. 20, at 6 pm.

Saints Raphael, Nicholas, and Irene Greek Orthodox parish sponsors the event each year on their 16 acres of land on Bethelview Road. 

This year, the festival is adding a 5K Run/Walk—the Toga Trot—to build even more fun and fellowship into this family-friendly event.

This year’s festival is important to the parish community and to the surrounding community as well, according to the press release. 

"Our parish community is committed to being good and active members of the Forsyth community," it says. "Each year a portion of the monies raised goes to local charities in Forsyth County, such as The Place and Jessie’s House. 

"Our parish is committed to our local community and helping those in need!"

Patrons' favorites are back this year, including homemade Greek Pastries (get them early because they sell out fast); authentic Greek food like gyros, souvlaki, pastichio, dolmades and lamb; a baklava sundae that is always a big hit with the kids; and music and dance.

Shopping also will be available from vendors, including merchandise from Greece and items from local vendors. 

Back this year is the children’s area features a petting zoo. 

One of the highlights of the Festival is the church tours, which happen every day of the festival. 

"Our joy in our beautiful 'village' created especially for the festival flow out of the beauties of our ancient and timeless faith," says the release. "Our church tours and lectures add so much to the experience of our festival."
