DOT to Suspend Roadwork for Sales Tax Holiday

Shoppers will get a break from road construction Friday and Saturday.

Shoppers will get a break from road construction this weekend to go along withΒ this weekend'sΒ back-to-school sales-tax holiday,Β says the Georgia Department of Transportation in a press release.Β 

The DOT will suspend construction-related lane closures withinΒ five miles of a shopping mall or major shopping district on all interstates and major state routesΒ beginning 8 a.m. Friday through 10 p.m. Saturday.

β€œThe sales tax holiday is an opportunity for Georgians to save a little money during theseΒ challenging economic times,” said Georgia DOT Commissioner Keith Golden. β€œThe DepartmentΒ is glad to offer some relief from lane closures as families prepare for school."
