Here are the top five stories today in Cumming:

  1. This past Saturday, Cumming held its first-ever wine-tasting festival presented by the restaurant Homestead at the Cumming City Center. The event featured over 50 wineries and distributors as well as food, a full bar, and live entertainment to make the first-time event one to remember. With hundreds of people in attendance and enjoying family time and wonderful weather, it is hopeful this will not be the last festival. (Forsyth County News Online)
  2. The Cumming Police Department has issued a Be On The Look Out (BOLO) order for a silver-colored sedan that was involved in the hit and run of a pedestrian. The incident occurred in downtown Cumming at the intersection of Main Street and E. Courthouse Square. Luckily, the victim of the hit-and-run was not seriously injured in the incident. If anyone has any information, please contact Officer Burns with the police department. (Forsyth County News Online)
  3. The Vine Community Church in Cumming recently received approval to build a foster care home on the property, a long-held dream that is becoming a reality in the near future. While the approval came in a meeting on Feb. 16, the thought of a foster care home was in the original drawings of the property. The church will be partnering with P.E.S.T. Relief International to construct its untraditional home for foster families to live rent/utility free so they can take care of these children in need of a home. With 250,000 people in the county and only seven current foster homes, an additional one will be very helpful for the community. (originalnewsbreak.com)
  4. This past Friday, metro Atlanta and North Georgia were impacted by strong storms and subsequent damage throughout multiple counties. The storm, which was rated level two or three through most counties, brought heavy winds and damaging winds to the area. You can look through the pictures and videos to see fallen trees, damaged buildings and vehicles, and more from the severity of the storms. (11alive.com)
  5. Looking for a move in the Cumming area? Here are a few new local homes listed for sale that can fit the mold for several different family sizes, ranging from three to five bedrooms. Pictures and details for each of these homes can be found at the link. (Cumming Patch)
