Forsyth County Sheriff's Office: Agency's Standards 'Above the Mark'

A Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police program re-certified the Cumming-based operation. What do you think of its standards?

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, whichΒ has been re-certified by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police,Β met or exceededΒ state law enforcement standardsΒ this year, according to an agencyΒ press release.

The association'sΒ Georgia Law Enforcement Certification Program requires law enforcement agencies meet certain standards "felt to be essential to the efficient and effective operation of law enforcement agencies," according to its website.

The standards incorporate contemporary professional thought and practices in the state, and will insure the goal of increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of Georgia law enforcement agencies, the website says.Β

Re-certified in May,Β FCSO not only met the standards but "continues to provide standards above the mark in law enforcement," according to the release. AnΒ on-site assessment team reviewed theΒ agency's operations, rangingΒ from records kept inΒ files toΒ equipment police officers use, to verify it qualified for re-certification.Β 

FCSO officialsΒ say in the releaseΒ they'reΒ "proud to be a part of this very important certification."
