The CTP serves as a guide for future transportation investments throughout Forsyth County, including transportation needs, project implementation and funding decisions. The planned five-year update, which will look at the planning horizon of 20 years, will focus on fine-tuning the Countyβs transportation related needs, priorities, opportunities, project implementation strategies and funding decisions to facilitate the communityβs vision to improve the Countyβs transportation network.
A project website for the CTP update, that includes public engagement information, a timeline of implementation and additional resources, can be found by visiting ForsythCTP2024.com.
To facilitate actionable plans and resulting implementation initiatives as well as projects that accurately reflect the desires of those who live, work and spend time in Forsyth County, residents and stakeholders are encouraged to provide their input throughout the planning process. Virtual and in person public input opportunities will be made available beginning this month.

The first round of community engagement will seek input on the draft vision and goals for the plan and on identifying transportation needs and opportunities within Forsyth County. In April and May of this year, the first round of public engagement will include a booth at community events, an online survey (available at https://wikimapping.com/Forsyth-County-Comprehensive-Transportation-Plan.html) and an open house meeting. The drop-in style open house will be held on Wednesday, April 26, in the banquet room of the Central Park Recreation Center (2300 Keith Bridge Rd.). The public is invited to stop by anytime from 5-7 p.m. to learn more about the update and provide feedback.
The second round of public engagement, which will seek input on project prioritization, will occur in late August and September of this year and include five district-centered open house events held across the County and a second online survey.
Event details will be shared on ForsythCTP2024.com as the events are planned.
The public is also invited to review important plan documents and stay updated on the project throughout the planning process at ForsythCTP2024.com.
Once complete, the updated CTP will include draft project recommendations and a fiscally constrained action plan. The resulting projects will include a wide variety of transportation-related improvements, including potential new roads, road widening plans and intersection improvements. In addition, Forsyth County is also looking at improvements for bicyclists and pedestrians.
This CTP update is funded as a partnership with the Atlanta Regional Commission under the Federal Surface Transportation Program.
