Forsyth Schools' ACT Scores Rise, Top National, State Averages

The 1,241 Forsyth County Schools students who took the ACT averagedΒ higher scores than their counterparts in Georgia and the nation.
The ACT consists of curriculum-based tests of educational development in English, math, reading and science, designed to measure the skills needed for success in first-year college coursework, according to Forsyth Schools, which released a report detailing the system's scores in relation to state averages and prior district results.
As its average ACTΒ score hasΒ continued to rise in the last five years, the system has a higher percentage of ACT-tested students ready for college-level coursework than the state, on average, according to the report.
"I am proud thatΒ we continued to increase our number ofΒ ACT test takers this year," Superintendent "Buster" Evans said in a statement. "In five years, close to 500 more Forsyth County studentsΒ have takenΒ the ACT, opening more opportunities to a larger number of students.
"AlsoΒ as a district, I amΒ pleased that we maintained our English scoreΒ and I am thrilled that we increased math, reading and science scores. Our composite score for the district also increased to 23.5, which is well above the state's score of 20.7 and the national average of 20.9."Β
