- Want to celebrate Valentine's Day by tying the knot with your sweetheart? On Tuesday, Feb. 14, Forsyth County Probate Court is offering free wedding ceremonies for any couple that resides in the county. Those who wish to schedule a ceremony can email probatehearing@forsythco.com to request a ceremony time, with slots available between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. that day. (Cumming Patch)
- A recently-released dashcam video from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office (FSCO) shows an intense high-speed chase from Saturday, Dec. 17. Cumming resident Islam Aslanov, 22, reported that he "freaked out" when he saw the FSCO deputy's car behind his. Aslanov has been charged with fleeing/attempting to elude, speeding, reckless driving, and failure to dim lights. (Newsbreak)
- A Cumming-based athlete is making waves in Georgia football. Sophomore Oscar Delp, who plays for the Georgia Bulldogs, has received recognition for "showing flashes of greatness" in recent matches, as well as stepping up in the Peach Bowl when the team was down star player Darnell Washington. - In partnership with OneForsyth, the Sharon Forks Library is celebrating the Lunar New Year today (Saturday, Jan. 21) from 12:30-4:30 p.m. This drop-in event includes crafts, exhibits, and food samples. Guests can also enjoy live performances between 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the meeting room. (Forsyth County Public Library)
